Maamoul is known to be one of the famous sweets in the Arab Gulf countries.
Ingredients and Method
Ingredients
- 1 kilo of flour
- 200 g butter
- 2 tablespoons of ghee
- ½ cup of oil
- 6 tablespoons of powdered milk
- 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of yeast
- Dates for stuffing
Method
- Melt the butter and ghee with the oil over medium heat
- Pour the mixture over the flour, add the rest of the ingredients and mix well
- Add half a cup of warm water, mix well
- Put the mixture in a warm place to ferment, cover the bowl so that the dough does not dry out
- Preheat the oven at 200 degrees Celsius
- Take a tablespoon of the dough, roll it out and stuff it with dates, then close it in the form of a ball
- Shape it with a baking mold, then stack it in the trays
- Put it in the oven until it is ripe and turns golden
