Maamoul is known to be one of the famous sweets in the Arab Gulf countries.
Ingredients and Method


  • 1 kilo of flour
  • 200 g butter
  • 2 tablespoons of ghee
  • ½ cup of oil
  • 6 tablespoons of powdered milk
  • 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of yeast
  • Dates for stuffing


  1. Melt the butter and ghee with the oil over medium heat
  2. Pour the mixture over the flour, add the rest of the ingredients and mix well
  3. Add half a cup of warm water, mix well
  4. Put the mixture in a warm place to ferment, cover the bowl so that the dough does not dry out
  5. Preheat the oven at 200 degrees Celsius
  6. Take a tablespoon of the dough, roll it out and stuff it with dates, then close it in the form of a ball
  7. Shape it with a baking mold, then stack it in the trays
  8. Put it in the oven until it is ripe and turns golden
